“This book is a must-read for all those with interest in medicines regulation in Africa… It provides timely expert information for consideration and possible adoption during the operationalisation of the AMA.”
Dr Delese Mimi Darko, Director General, African Medicines Agency (AMA)
This publication is the outcome of a doctoral PhD research programme that evaluated the regulatory review models and performance of seven national regulatory authorities in the ECOWAS region. The research provides a comprehensive analysis of the ECOWAS Medicines Regulatory Harmonisation (MRH) initiative and its potential contribution to the operationalisation of the African Medicines Agency (AMA). It also presents a series of recommendations to strengthen regulatory systems and improve access to quality-assured medicines across Africa.
We hope that this publication will serve as a valuable resource for regulators, policymakers, and stakeholders involved in regional harmonisation initiatives. The insights and tools presented may support the development of more transparent, predictable, and efficient regulatory systems, and contribute to the broader goals of the AMA.
