Emerging Markets Programme

Emerging Markets

The evolving regulatory authorities in the emerging pharmaceutical markets are becoming increasingly important to pharmaceutical companies in their global strategies for clinical development, registration of new medicines and post-marketing maintenance. Together with the opportunities present within the international pharmaceutical market there are also barriers for industries and authorities to overcome.

In January 2004, CIRS initiated the Emerging Markets Programme to meet the needs of both companies and regulatory agencies for comparative data and information on the evolving regulatory environment in the emerging markets at the country and regional level.

The programme focuses  on four main components:

  • Emerging Markets Regulatory Review Times (EMaRReT) database
  • A Focus study on a specific regulatory issue (decided by programme participants)
  • An Industry Discussion Meeting allowing peer-to-peer interaction
  • An Annual Workshop to bring together regulators and industry to discuss current relevant topics
